QuickBooks Desktop: After September 2024, What Next? (Updated November 2024)
After September 30, 2024, Intuit no longer sell new subscriptions of the following Desktop products in the US:
QuickBooks Desktop Pro Plus
QuickBooks Desktop Premier Plus
QuickBooks Desktop Mac Plus
QuickBooks Desktop Enhanced Payroll
In October 2024 Intuit has released a major update (R9) for QuickBooks 2024 Enterprise. It appears that this is their final decision not to release QuickBooks 2025 Enterprise. At the moment, R11 is the latest update you can get.
What is not changing
Existing Desktop Pro Plus, Premier Plus, Mac Plus, and Enhanced Payroll subscribers can continue to renew their subscription after September 30, 2024. Intuit will support QuickBooks Desktop 2024 until May 2027.
All QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise subscriptions (Silver, Gold, Platinum, and Diamond) will continue to be available for purchase for new subscribers after September 30, 2024. Enterprise Gold, Platinum, and Diamond include integrated payroll. Anyone can continue purchasing QuickBooks 2024 Accountant Plus starting at $1,250 for single user. You may consider this cheaper option than have to purchase QuickBooks Enterprise. We can also help to obtain the new license if required and you can get a $100 cashback.
You are allowed to purchase additional seats for any existing licenses and supported versions.
What options do you have
If you have non-subscription versions of QuickBooks Desktop Pro, Premier, or Mac and wish to remain on Desktop, you can still use it for good.
If you have Pro Plus or Premier Plus and are considering Desktop Payroll, you may consider to use Gusto. You can get a $100 cashback to manage up to 9 employees or a $200 cashback to have 10 employees or more. Another option, you may consider upgrading to QuickBooks Enterprise Gold. We received updates from several Mac users claiming that they have upgraded operating system to Sequoia and have been running QuickBooks 2019, 2020, and 2021 without any issues. On the other hand, Intuit has released patches for QuickBooks 2022, 2023 and 2024 to support Sequoia. It appears Sequoia has been less susceptible to QuickBooks issues since its release to the public than Sonoma was last year. If you want to upgrade your version from QuickBooks 2021 or older to QuickBooks 2022 or later, you can use the trial version with our workaround. You can also use the same workaround once you want to convert data from QuickBooks Online or switching to another accounting application.
If you are using QuickBooks 2021 or older but need to import bank transactions in bulk, you can use TP Importer as a workaround. It’s a $199 one-time license and you can get a $100 cashback to purchase it through us. Please note that TP Importer doesn’t support QuickBooks for Mac. If you prefer to keep using the bank feed feature, you can use the trial of a supported version as a workaround.
QuickBooks Desktop renewal prices start at $999 plus tax. You may have 4 options:
1. Let Intuit renew your license as is.

As of QuickBooks 2022, Intuit only offers subscription licensing. Amazingly, you will find many sellers in the market offering QuickBooks 2022-2024 without subscription or lifetime license. You should avoid these offers unless you don't mind spending more later. If you're using it now and claim that you haven't experienced any problems, at this point you're probably right. But you should know that sellers actually offer the same license code to everyone. Once Intuit's servers flag multiple activation attempts in a short period of time, they will freeze the license and you may get random notifications asking for an activation code. When that happens, you will immediately remember to contact the seller and amazingly their website, email address or phone number is unreachable. If you try to contact Intuit, Support team won't bother to help because you can't access CAMPS to find your license code. As a last resort, you can use the trial version as a workaround to secure your data.
